HOSPITALITY
Speakers will have access to beverages and snacks throughout the program. Light supper, breakfast, and lunch items will be provided during mealtime hours.
BEFORE THE EVENT
Share details with your friends and family, and on social media. As soon as the schedule is set we'll let you know your anticipated time period so you can tell your supporters when to come. In the meantime, please help to publicize the event in any way you can.
SPEAKER SUPPORT
Participants are encouraged to bring friends and family, and to take photos and videos to commemorate and celebrate your story.
PLANNING YOUR SCHEDULE
Participants will be asked to select 3-hour time periods to present their story. If there is a time period when you cannot come, you can let us know that, too. We will do our best to accommodate all requests, but as the schedule fills, it this may become harder to do.
As the event dates get closer, we anticipate being able provide each participant with a narrower window of approximately 1-hour for their talk. When you arrive, you'll stop at the check-in table and then wait to be seated in the audience during the next speaker transition to await your turn.
No speakers under 18 will be scheduled during overnight time blocks from 12am-9am on Saturday.
SIGN UP TO TELL YOUR STORY
Select 'Participate' in the main menu above for the online registration form, which can be previewed before filling it out. After you fill out and submit the form, a committee member will contact you to talk about your presentation and schedule.
Most people will tell their stories by speaking at the event. Others may prefer alternatives such as telling their stories through artwork, song, or other means.
Some may wish to share their stories through video or audio submitted in advance; we will contact you to make arrangements.
If you are unable to attend the event on November 7 or 8, or are simply uncomfortable with public speaking, you can have someone read your story for you. Or, we can arrange to provide a reader.
If need be, your story can be read with a pseudonym; please contact us if you prefer privacy.
High school students ages 16-17: When you sign up, we'll make sure you get a Parent Consent Form, which will need to be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to us.
